Tips: Urls with the word “torrent” are blocked on their non-P2P servers. This is a bit over the top in our opinion, but may be a flawed filter configuration (perhaps blocking “torrent” instead of “.torrent”?). But in any case, you can get around this in many instances by using the https:// version of a website instead of http://, if the site has it available. For example, http://torrentfreak.com is blocked, but https://torrentfreak.com works.
If you can’t connect to a server, try switching the software settings to TCP. Everything is UDP by default, which can sometimes have difficulty with the initial connection/handshake.
There’s a handy function on the software you can enable which allows you to change IP addresses while connected to a particular server.
This could well be the Rolls Royce of VPN services. Wide global network of fast reliable servers. Dedicated P2P servers aren’t the fastest due to their location in relation to me but they are plenty good enough. Client interface has more options than any others I’ve seen. The price is higher for sure, at least it was as I now see they are offering a 12 month option which undercuts the top dogs. But you still need to pay extra for the mobile option.
They’re breaking Dutch laws by censoring the media that are talking about torrents. You are unable to read pages with ‘torrents’ on the page. They are okay with you going to torrent-websites, but reading articles about torrents is their nightmare and they will not allow you to read them. This counts for ALL articles on ALL websites, ALL over the world. Your local newspapers will be blocked as soon as the word ‘torrent’ shows up.
This is against the Dutch law, and I think it is even against laws of the EU. This is important due the fact that they are a Dutch company. Being a provider of an internet service, they are not allowed to censor pages without . Due the fact that they do not talk about this, nor in the process of ordering, nor in the Terms of Service, they are also misleading their costumers. Their Terms of Service state that you are not allowed to download through P2P on certain servers. However, they do not say that they block random pages with the word ‘torrent’ on it. They are not allowed to do this without any form of judicial power.
I work for a Dutch broadcaster, known for programs about customer rights. I highly advise against this service and do not recommend this. We might start an investigation about VPN-services, where this will be shown as the bad example if they do not change their policy. We have informed them about the investigation yesterday.
Hi Marieke, we do mention in our review that ‘if you are connected via a ‘No-P2P’ server you may even find some torrent related sites blocked’.
We also think this is a bit over the top, but may be a flawed filter configuration (perhaps blocking “torrent” instead of “.torrent”?). But in any case, you can get around this in many instances by using the https:// version of a website instead of http, if the site has it available. For example, http://torrentfreak.com is blocked, but https://torrentfreak.com works.
I’ve just tried the UK (no P2P) server and was able to access http://torrentfreak.com and other torrent sites and articles so the filter isn’t 100%. Or you could just read torrent stuff using your native connection. One thing is for sure, you can P2P on the P2P servers.
Now that you’ve contacted them I’m sure they’ll sort the filter thingy!
Hey,
I just want to warn everyone to not use VPN4all whatsoever. Try anything you like but not VPN4all. They are completely insane with their weird policy and restrict people more than that they set them free and safe. For once, the application works very badly. I have never seen it start up properly because it keeps asking for an activation key for the first twenty – thirty seconds. Then it starts initializing for five – ten seconds, then – if you’re lucky, it connects to a server right away what also takes 15 – 20 seconds. But don’t be surprised if it doesn’t connect right away, it might take you ten – twenty minutes of restarting for the application to actually work. If you have ‘automatic connection’ turned on, it will always connect to the same server that I don’t want (unchangeable). I will have to disconnect what takes 15 seconds, and reconnect to another server what takes 15 – 20 seconds as well. So either I spend an additional minute on changing the server, or I will have to turn on my connection manually every-single-time. That blows!
Hey Dave,
You can easily turn off ‘auto connection’ and you probably have ‘fastest server default’ selected which you can also turn off.
A bit pricier than some of the competition but it works like a dream for me here in NZ. Great software, very easy to use and the speed is as good as can be expected imo. If you want privacy and good support I highly recommend this.
Was looking for a vpn while traveling in Europe and my boss put me on to VPN4all. Excellent service and support , had everything up and running before I left. Great speeds for everything I needed workwise and I was even able to keep up with US Tv
If they don’t keep log files on ANYONE, how do they offer a VPN4ALL 50 smaller price plan and know when you exceed the 50 gigs??? There is a LOT of misinformation on this site!
@ Mr L. VPN4ALL gathers information about actual bandwidth usage per license number in order to control their pricing plans only. However, they do not cache, collect or store a user’s originating IP address or store information about which servers or the IP addresses on the VPN4ALL server network a user has connected to at a particular time or in general.
Top notch vpn. The best I’ve used and I’ve tried plenty over the years. Great for downloads, movies, tv. Very reliable and fast ,secure and easy to use. Look no further.
I’ve been using vpn4all on my PC for some time and have to say the speed is great. No problems with watching movies online on their network, unlike with some other (cheaper and not) vpn’s I had tried. Just got a separate license for my iPad.
D., what are you talking about? The mobile setup instructions are sent to you by email along with your vpn4all mobile license number. I don’t use Mac, but I see the dmg installer url in my client area.
Finally, there is a decent vpn service. I highly recommend.
If you really take your privacy seriously you need an off shore vpn and VPN4All is the best I’ve come across. This software starts automatically when you start the PC and is simple to use. The servers are fully protected with AV, etc. It includes fast servers in over 25 countries, operates at 99.99% of the time, and you can change easily from one IP to another. I use a VPN for the past three months, and it works Windows 7, Vista & XP. it’s been 3 months that I download with no worries. Simply the best.
Contacted Support on Many occasions. NO RESPONSE. Does not work with MAC. No information on website or by sign up process to set up iPhone!!! Very disappointed. I wanted this service to work! I will be requesting refund. All there FAQ’s are outdated and manual page is a broken link. BUYER BEWARE
I have been using this service for 3 months now and I know i’ll be using it for some time as long as its as good as this. Help and support are fantastic and they now have dedicated servers for p2p. Make sure you pick the ones marked for this. Very stable and secure and worth the money imo
